More In Depth Details...

Here are more in depth details towards our thriller based on mis-en-scene.

For costume, we would like the murderer to wear all black clothes. Black hoodie would be acceptable as it will hide the killers face, or blur it abit.

Here are more in depth details towards our thriller based on mis-en-scene.

We also have some ideas of film settings.. the first is Stuarts house, where we can use his little sisters bedroom. The next is my friend Daniel Woodlands, sisters bedroom and the final idea is to put up a poster in the common room to find anyone who has a suitable bedroom.

Hopefully we will find a setting as soon as possible.

After much thought we finally found the music for our film. It is from sound snap and is the sound of a music box. When it comes to filming we are hoping to go alot slower. Weirdly enough, i have a musical box at home with the exact same tune on it.

The props we will need are photos of young children, which will be scattered across the floor. We will also need the toys so they can be scattered across the floor and we will also need a musical box so we can take shots of the box.

The lighting of the set, will be dark enough to hide the killer but not to dark to hide the objects in the room. We cant make the mistake of turning the light on for some parts of the shooting as it will mess it up.

Finally we have decided to use Stuarts dog, this will be alot easier as we dont have to transport dogs around.

We are hoping to film by after the christmas holidays.

Mis-En-Scene details.

Here is some of the mis-en-scene details that are needed for the thriller opening.

Costume

The main person will be wearing normal casual clothes. The killer will be wearing all black to be able t blend into the darkness of the room.

Sound

The main sound coming from the film, would be the music box. This would give an eerie sound and feel to the opening. At the end of the film, we are not sure whether the music should stop directly during the action, i.e when the object falls to the ground, or to stop when the camera cuts to blackness to roll the titles.

Setting

We are hoping to set the film in a childs room. It is set in 21st century, and the room has to be very dark, but not dark enough to be able to use the night vision mode, as it will ruin the effect.
Therefore it will be shot hopefully in mid-afternoon/ early evening. The room might be messy or may tidy but we have not thought about the small details to the actual layout. We will shoot the whole opening in one room as it is alot easier for us and alot quicker (we hope) :)

Props

The only props we need are the basic childrens toys, the music box, and photos, drawings and other children stuff. To show the viewer at the beginnig shot that we are in a childrens room.

Camera Script

[Ihave copy and pasted this onto my blog off of bex's because it will be exactly the same for all of us in our group.]

This is a camera script for the pitch we have chosen.

Throughout Music box sound is constantly on:
Setting: Inside in a young child’s bedroom. Mainly in a child’s bedroom, no other rooms in the house.

Fade in:
Camera panning across the floor of the room, camera showing pictures and toys of the child. In the background, sounds of a music box.
Camera still panning across room, pans onto person sitting, looking up towards him.

Clean cut to:
Over view shot, looking over the persons shoulders zooming into the photo or item in his hand.

Clean cut to:
Shot looking into mirror, mid-shot. At an angle to show the person’s face. Also able to see the door behind him, open slightly.

Clean cut to:
Shows a dog walking into the room and lying down on the floor, beside the person’s feet.

Clean cut to:
Mid-shot of the person sitting on the bed, you see the door close quietly behind him.

Clean Cut to:
P.O.V of killer walking up behind the person.

Clean cut to:
Another overview shot of person looking at the object.

Clean cut to:
Close up of person sitting on the bed’s head. You then see the killer’s hands come from behind the persons face, yo-yo string.

Clean cut to: shot of music box, noise is getting slower, final stops.

Clean cut to: Object, person was holding falls to the ground, you see feet of killer running out.

Cut to black.

Witch Pitchs??

After presenting our three pitchs, our teachers decided which one would be a good opening to make. My one was sooooo good it never even got a say. After much discussion we all decided to do Bex's opening. This was because it had the best effect with it, Especially with the music boz giving the errie music effect.

To make it perfect we will need to change a couple of things, i.e changing the knife to something else to kill the charactor with. This is because the knife has been used too many times in films.

We keep coming up with new ideas for filming and so we write them down and teel eachother our ideas.

filming should be pretty good as long as we get every ting sorted.

three pitchs

Me, Becky and Andi and Stuart came up with a pitch idea each for our main bit of filming. An opening to a Thriller film.

NATHANS IDEA
I came up with the idea of a peaceful area and then cutting to a close up of a persons legs running. You then see a close up of his face and a POV shot of where he is looking behind him. You then see something jump out at him and he stumbles over. We dont see what it is that jumps at him but we see a glimpse of it. You then get anothere POV shot of him looking forward towards the woods as if to think of somewhere to hide. When he is in the woods we see him looking around and stumbling. We can also see shadows inbetween the trees. We would aslo get a POV shot of him looking around, again seeing shadows but this time there would be more. It would then cut to out side the woods and you hear him scream. It would then pan off like how it was when it started as if nothing happened.

BECKYS IDEA
Becky came up with the idea of a person sitting in a small dark oom with toys spread across. The perosn would be looking at a photo that he has in his hand. There would also be a music box playing in the background. You then hear the door opening slowly and the camera cuts to the door. You get a sense of relief when you find out that it was the dog that was coming in. It then cuts back to the person sitting on hte bed. The door then slowy closes and the dog goes to lie down. The door slowy opens back up and the Dog sarts to growl. The person sitting down asks whats up but does not turn around. The camersa does a close up of the door and sees someone comeing in. You then get a POV shot of the attacker going up to the person sitting down. You see their hand slowy move around and then speed up to cover the Victums mouth before they can scream. As this happens the music boxs suddenly stops.

ANDI AND STUARTS IDEA
I copied his off of Stuarts profile because it was so much easier than typing it out =]

My idea that I am going to pitch starts off with a man walking his dog down the edge of a field with long grass/corn. Then he lets it off its lean and it goes running in the grass. The cuts here are quite slow, with a few mid shots, close ups on the mans face and point of view shots from his looking at the top of the grass shake as the dog runs about in it. Not much sound can be heard just the rustling of the grass, this silence and the close ups of the mans face make him seem very alone and defenceless. Then suddenly the grass movements stop. He waits a moment staring at the grass and calls out a few times for his dog. Then a point of view shot from the grass could be used here to make it seem like there is something in the grass, adds to the tension. He waits a few more moments, you can see he is becoming worried and he starts to wade through the grass towards where his dog was. Lots of close ups would be used here to add to the claustrophobic feel of the grass all around him, gives impression hes walking into a trap. Then point of view shot as he parts the grass to the place his dog stopped, but you don't see anything, then it cuts to a close up on the mans face to show his reaction.
